Entrepreneurial Spirit for the Tried and Tested

A common business myth is ‘If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It’…

And you can see why it took root - your business is a success.  You have established it, grown it, made it work.  But now you’ve stalled. Growth has flatlined and you’re feeling stale.  You know you need to do something, but what?  Do you look to your brand, your team, your route to market or product? It starts with the willingness to abandon unconscious bias.  To stop blocking yourself with, ‘we’ve tried that before, it’s a dead end.’ It’s paradoxical, but the experience which makes you so effective in business can be the saboteur of your own ambition.

WhiteCap brings energy and a fresh perspective to what will doubtless be a significant task: to wade through the history of your business and unravel the entire system of interconnectedness to find that growth opportunity buried in years of data. Because it’s definitely there and by shining a spotlight on the archives, together we will find it.

By bringing new energy, WhiteCap has helped resurrected the fortunes of many businesses. In one case salvaging the nation’s film legacy by making old films new and bringing them to the digital cognoscenti where they were welcomed with enthusiasm and celebration.

In another example, WhiteCap worked with an entrepreneur to develop, negotiate and ultimately successfully close an ambitious partnership between a global music label and an entrepreneurial award-winning event business. By working fast, they were able to plant their flag in the exploding a food industry.

Entrepreneurial energy can help to rejuvenate large multi nationals too, a recent pan European WhiteCap engagement involved the review and development of a blue chip media owner’s service offering and route to market.

It takes new eyes to see past the product, brand or service to a complete eco-system for growth. Maybe you need to partner with an entrepreneur to negotiate and develop, or engage through community.  It’s new wine in old bottles. A mindset as much as a strategy. Because a spirit of entrepreneurialism is a good thing, even for the successful.

Steven challenged conventional thinking of commercialising products, which was the initial thought, and encouraged us to develop the consultancy side of Clinical Engineering Innovation. For our transplant developed products Steven raised caution that our intrapreneurship model within the NHS needed a more commercial approach for other markets such as the United States. He is extremely supportive but also critical when required
